Kerala government has launched a user-friendly web portal ‘Athidhi’, for the registration of migrant workers in Kerala. The portal will introduce a unique identification system to streamline the registration process.
The portal will allow the government to address the grievances against sexual crimes committed by migrant workers against children. It will fast-track the registration of guest workers, contractors, employers and individual workers. The details will then by carefully examined by the enrolling officer.
The government also plans on establishing help desks at railway stations to facilitate the registration for guest workers arriving in the state. The details will allow the officials to safeguard the residents in order to create a safe and more inclusive work environment.
Athidhi is a centralised platform to collect and manage worker details to ensure safety and to provide social security benefits to the migrant workers.
